December 30, 2016 Fishing Report

Our customers had a blast fishing today here in the Monterey Bay. Jim and friends have fished with Captain Jimmy Rubin in the past on The Becky Ann and was anxious to see him at the wheel of Miss Beth. Joe and his wife were here from Chicago and appreciated the weather here as opposed of the conditions in their home town. They all had a great time catching limits of quality rock cod consisting of blues and blacks. The Crab Pots yielded 18 big Dungeness Crab. Sounds like a delicious New Years Eve dinner. December 17, 2016 Fishing Report

After being idle for a few days due to bad weather and big ocean swells we fished locally with Robert and his friends. The weather and water was great. So was the fishing. They caught almost limits of a variety of rock fish including blues, blacks and vermillion. They stopped and pulled crab pots which yielded 17 big tasty Dungeness Crab. Everyone had a great time. November 26, 2016 Fishing Report

Today’s charter was questionable not only due to rain but water conditions. While the charter was put on hold we got a call reporting conditions were fine. Our customers Pam, Elizabeth and Lonnie were at the boat in 15 minutes and ready for an adventure. And what fun they had bringing in enough big Dungeness Crab for family and friends. November 25, 2016 Fishing Report

We fished locally here in the Monterey Bay today with Diane and her friends from Santa Cruz. They caught a variety of quality Rock Fish including two nice lingcods. November 23, 2016 Fishing Report

It was another great day fishing here in the Monterey Bay. Our fishing combo trip was with Dave and his family here in town for the Holiday. We can report the family will have a bountiful of fresh Dungeness Crab on the table. If you are lucky maybe he will invite you over because they have 38 crab. Rock Cod fishing was not as productive but the family has enough to serve fish tacos to the neighborhood. The whales were out there. The dolphins were jumping and entertaining. The blue fin tuna were running but that is exactly what they were doing – running. They are not biting. The water was a little bumpy in early morning but by late morning it was ‘very nice’. November 22, 2016 Fishing Report

Our Combo Rock Cod and Crab Charter today was with Robert and his family from Lake Tahoe. They couldn’t have picked a nicer day to fish the Monterey Bay. We fished locally and caught quality limits of a variety of Rock Fish and a beautiful Ling Cod. These fish are truly a monster looking fish from the sea, and are fun to catch but better yet to eat. November 14, 2016 Fishing Report

There has been a big swell in the Monterey Bay making us watch and wait for fishable days. Today our charter had a great time and was very happy with their catch. They brought in 33 big Dungeness Crab and proceeded to get some nice rock cod. Can you say yummy? We have charters available for both combo trips and crab only. Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Your friends and family would love some on their dinner table. As a side note there have been reports of Blue Fin sightings close by. We are getting excited about the upcoming Dungeness Crab Season which will open the first Saturday of November. We have combo trips available. Depending on the bite we will fish for rock fish or sand dabs (yummy) and on our way will stop and pull crab pots with Dungeness Crab (yummier). September 20, 2016 Fishing Report

Our charter today was with our regular Mark. They went to Franklin Point. The water and weather was as nice as it gets. As was the fishing. They caught quality rockfish consisting of blues, blacks and vermillion. Captain Jimmy Rubin says the blues were huge. Big. Can’t remember if he’s ever seen them that big. The ling cod was at least 18 pounds. No reason to brag about the 30-35 pounder lost right at the boat. But they did. There were dolphins playing and whales spouting. Thanks Mark. September 19, 2016 Fishing Report

We had a Fishing Charter today with a team of five from San Jose. The boat took them up the coast where the water has a lot of rock formation and the fish are big and bountiful. September 18, 2016 Fishing Report

It was Girl’s Day on the Bay today. Not a charter but a family and girlfriend fishing trip. We went up the coast and found almost limits of a variety of rock cod. I had a big ling cod that came off at the boat. Amanda was the star bringing in doubles more often than not. Leesie, my sister, had the fewest. She came clean and told us she ate a banana just before boarding. I’ve heard no bananas on the boat as it is bad luck but never just eating one. It was beautiful up the coast. Today’s fishing report came from Kevin who called to report what a blast he and his team had today. He reported they had crew limits of quality rock fish by 10:30 in the morning. After catching limits they cruised the bay in what he referred to as a perfect day in the water here in Santa Cruz. There were whales spouting and dolphins playing. He reported it was a GREAT day. Today’s Charter was with Kei and his family and friends from San Carlos. These Charters must be fun as it was his third charter in four weeks. They fished locally and caught almost limits of quality rock fish consisting of yellows, blues, blacks, olives and vermilion. August 25, 2016 Fishing Report

What fun. Today our charter was with the Sippl Family and everyone had a blast. After fishing together for years they said ‘We have never caught so many fish’. By 9am they had limits of quality rock cod consisting of olives, yellow tail, blues, blacks and vermillion. The boat fished locally here in Santa Cruz. The water was flat an calm. August 24, 2016 Fishing Report

Today was an absolute blast. Our charter was a Birthday celebration with the Mohsen Family. They wanted to do something special and go to Franklin Point. Their Birthday wish was to catch Ling Cod. Well Happy Birthday. They caught limits of Ling Cod. Quality big ones. They also limited out on various species of rock cod. The water was calm. The weather was beautiful. Another day of great of fishing. Today our charter on Miss Beth took David and his friends to New Years Island. They caught limits of quality rock cod consisting of blues, blacks and olives. They also caught 5 ling cod weighing up to 15 pounds along with some vermilion. You could not find nicer weather or water to fish in. Our deckhand Rob with a nickname of Joker took care of the full boat of 6. Why is called Joker? Cause his boat is named Joker. There you go. He’ll take care of you. No joking. Our charter today was with the Terry Family from Gilroy. Wow was it fun! Our Captain Jimmy Rubin took them fishing locally here in the waters off of Santa Cruz. They caught almost limits of blues, blacks and olive rock cod. They also brought in two nice size ling cod. These almost monster like creatures of the sea always bring smile and delights to everyone’s faces. The water was smooth as glass. August 16, 2016 Fishing Report

We fished locally today with a returning customer, the Kei Family, and Calvin here from Texas. It was a morning charter and was described as an absolute gorgeous day here in Santa Cruz. The bite remains hot. They caught 3 nice ling cod and have to report lost 5 at the boat. That means they are out there to get bigger and caught again. There were limits of quality rock cod consisting of yellows, blues, blacks and vermillion. There were whale sightings all morning which means there a lot of bait in the bay. That makes great fishing. What fun it was today. The bite was hot hot hot. We fished locally with Justin and his girlfriend from Grass Valley. The weather was beautiful here in the Monterey Bay. They caught early limits of quality blues, blacks, olives and yellow tail. The Pacific Red Snapper was also biting. The dolphins were out jumping and playing to add to the entertainment. Today’s charter was with the Rudolph a local family celebrating Brad’s Birthday for three days now. Miss Beth the 30′ Island Hopper took them to Franklin Point where they caught limits of big quality Pacific Snapper, blue, black and olive Rock Cod. They landed two nice ling cod. What fun a fun day. Today the Charter went to Ana Nuevo aka the Islands with Mark and his team. John was the champ catching big quality fish faster than others. He sat in the corner minding his own business but we think he was just being more attentive than the others. Regardless, they caught 10 big Ling Cod, big ground fish including big vermillion and school fish consisting of blacks, blues and olives. BIG ones. The water was beautiful, flat and calm. Today our charter went up the coast and found a it to be windy with rough waters. We came back down hill and caught some nice rock cod and ling cod. Today our charter was with Rob Pierce, his family and friend. We had planned a trip to Ano Nuevo but the swell in the Monterey Bay kept us local. Our charter today was with the Lewinski Family. We fished locally in the beautiful Monterey Bay off Santa Cruz due to an ocean swell. We had limits of Rock Cod consisting of olives, blues, blacks and vermillion by 11:30. We had a few Ling Cod come unbuttoned right at the boat. They are out there and biting. June 26, 2016 Fishing Report

Today we fished locally in the beautiful Monterey Bay. There was a swell but we managed to bring in 3 Ling Cod weighing 12-14 pounds. We released 6 as they were too short. The charter also caught quality Rock Cod. We used live mackerel and sardines caught yesterday in the bay for the charter. The mackerel and sardines are plentiful right now. We can take you fishing for these as it is fun and productive. While we did not get halibut today they are out there and good size. June 18, 2016 Fishing Report

Our charter today was here from Texas. They wanted to bring in Dungeness Crab, fish for Rock Cod and go Whale Watching. That is exactly what we did. First stop was to pull the crab pots and unloaded 40 crab. Yummy. Then up the coast on the beautiful Monterey Bay. While there was a swell on the water we still caught some Rock Cod and a beautiful Ling Cod. Everyone was happy. Today’s charter was productive and an absolute blasts. A family of four teenage brothers fished with their neighbor John. When asked if they knew it was Mother’s Day they responded – “YES”. May 7, 2016 Fishing Report

We had a girls day on the bay today. Five us went whale watching – Melissa, Jean, Carol, Dar as well as Miss Beth. The whales were abundant near Natural Bridges. We saw it all. Tales, breeching, babies and even smelled one who spouted next to us. My sister thought it was one of us on board until JT explained the whales do stink. We had a blast. April 9, 2016 Fishing Report

Light winds and swell with some showers are forecasted until mid week when a more significant storm rolls in and may keep anglers at the docks. The bottom fish season is open and early reports are good with lots of action and limits coming from Big Sur and up the coast. Salmon fishing is now open and after one week reports are good for those trolling the East edge of the hole. Dungeness crab season is now open and catch reports have been good. Shore based angling for rockfish, cabezon and ling cod remains open year around. This includes diving using a spear. April 26, 2016 Fishing Report The water conditions and wind has improved. First stop was to pull the crab pots and unloaded 40 crab. Yummy. Then up the coast on the beautiful Monterey Bay. While there was a swell on the water we still caught some Rock Cod and a beautiful Ling Cod. Everyone was happy. Today’s charter was productive and an absolute blasts. A family of four teenage brothers fished with their neighbor John. When asked if they knew it was Mother’s Day they responded – “YES”. It was her treat do be without them so she could do want she wanted to do. They landed seven nice Kings. I think they are making dinner tonight. Thanks Liz and John. Come fish with us.

We had a girls day on the bay today. Five us went whale watching – Melissa, Jean, Carol, Dar as well as Miss Beth. The whales were abundant near Natural Bridges. We saw it all. Tales, breeching, babies and even smelled one who spouted next to us. My sister thought it was one of us on board until JT explained the whales do stink. We had a blast. Light winds and swell with some showers are forecasted until mid week when a more significant storm rolls in and may keep anglers at the docks. The bottom fish season is open and early reports are good with lots of action and limits coming from Big Sur and up the coast. Salmon fishing is now open and after one week reports are good for those trolling the East edge of the hole. Dungeness crab season is now open and catch reports have been good. Shore based angling for rockfish, cabezon and ling cod remains open year around. This includes diving using a spear. April 26, 2016 The water conditions and wind has improved. We will have fishing report to publish Wednesday. Come fish with us. April 29, 2016 We fished the Soquel Hole for Salmon today. We ended up with two nice Kings. We stopped and pulled Crab Pots and brought in 15 crabs. The wind and swell is suppose to improve by Sunday. Everyone had a blast.
