December 30th Fishing Report 2019

Captain Greg took the clients to fish the deep near Davenport today. They did two drifts to get limits of a variety of rock fish including big yellow tail and Boccaccio. They then headed to the crab grounds where they pulled five pots to get limits for everyone – sixty Dungeness crab. Our clients from Lodi said they fish a lot out of the Bay Area but no longer. Go Fish Santa Charters  is their fishing charter boat from now on. They also said the crew is the best and to make sure we keep them. No problem. We agree!!!!!!

December 27th Fishing Report 2019

Captain JT took the clients to fish the North Coast. They were just short of limits before the wind came up. They landed a variety of quality rock cod including some big vermillion, big yellow tail, speckled rock fish and some flag fish. The boat headed back downhill to the crab pots.  Four trap pots yielded limits of Dungeness crab. Sixty yummy crab. Call to book your charter. 831.234.6155

December 24th Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters had limits again for everyone. Dungeness crab continue to be big and abundant. After pulling crab pots the charter boat took the clients to fish north of Santa Cruz where they caught limits of rock cod. They ran across a school of these orange and red stripped species of rock fish called a flag fish. Check out this twenty pound ling cod Rob caught this morning. Glad to see you today Rob.

December 23rd Fishing Report 2019

The crab pots were loaded today. The pulled five pots to get crew limits of yummy Dungeness crab. At  8am Captain JT took the clients to fish the north Coast where they caught limits of a variety of rock fish. They landed some BIG vermillion.

December 20th Fishing Report 2019

Dungeness crab continue to be abundant and big. Yesterday we had to pull two crab pots for limits. Today we had to pull five for crew limits. Captain JT took repeat client Chip and his team to fish above Davenport. The bite was slow at first but they found a hole where the bite was hot. The had limits of a variety of rock fish. December 15th Fishing Report 2019

The Dungeness crab continue to be abundant and big. The clients had early limits before heading out to fish for rock fish. They fished south of Davenport and had limits of a variety of rock fish.  Beth, Gerald, Clinton and John had a blast and said they will be back. Call to book your trip before rock cod season closes at the end of the year.   We wish the best of Dungeness Crab season to the commercial crabbers who are finally allowed out to run their pots and make a living!

December 13th Fishing Report 2019

The clients had limits of Dungeness Crab before heading out to the fishing grounds. The fished near Davenport where they caught limits of a variety of rock fish. Check out this flag fish. They asked Captain JT what kind of fish it was he told them it was a GO FISH. Huh?  It matched the stripes on the crab gear.

November 30th Fishing Report 2019

Today the combo trip turned into a crab only trip for a family of six. We went and pulled crab pots – the water was too rough for fishing. Still, the clients were happy with their Dungeness crab. Call to book your trip.

We had a combo trip today even with the weather. The charter had six clients that went home with limits of Dungeness crab and a variety of ro quality rock fish.

November 28th Fishing Report 2019

Today  it was a crab trip for family and friends. Everyone went home with limits for their holiday dinner table. Happy Thanksgiving.

November 27th Fishing Report 2019

November 26th Fishing Report 2019

We had s crab only trip today with our repeat client Ryan and his team from Beauregard Vineyards. Everyone went home with limits –  10 yummy Dungeness crab each.  Thanks for the bottle of Pinot Noir Ryan.

November 25th Fishing Report 2019

Our client Curtis and his team had limits of Dungeness Crab – 10 each. We had to pull 6 crab pots to get their 60 crab. The wind came up and they were happy to come in with their Thanksgiving dinner. We have two seats open for Wedneaday before the holiday. Call 831.234.6155 to book those seats.

November 24th Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters crab pots continue to yield limits of Dungeness Crab. Today we pulled 7 pots for 60 beauties.  Captain Greg then took the clients to fish north of Santa Cruz where they caught limits of a variety of quality rock fish. November 23rd Fishing Report 2019

Limits again today for Dungeness crab and Rock Fish. The crab pots are full and the rock fish are biting. The clients had early limits of both. The crab are nice size and abundant. Book a charter for your holiday table. Call 831.234.6155

November 22nd Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters boat the  Miss Beth went to dry dock yesterday for a new propeller. Captain JT took her out for a test drive. She can now run at 30 knots.  The 30 foot Island Hopper can now get you to the fishing grounds faster than ever. And she is quiet too. Today,  we had a combo trip. November 20th Fishing Report 2019

The clients had limits of Dungeness crab before heading up the coast to fish. The water was rough, the wind was up and the fish were not biting.. Captain Greg headed back down the hill for where they caught some nice rock cod. We have seats available. Call to book your holiday trip.

They had limits of yummy Dungeness crab and half limits of Rock Fish.  Matt and his team could not speak more highly of their trip with Captain JT and Greg. November 16th Fishing Report 2019

Our repeat clients, Chip and his team, wanted a long range trip. After pulling crab pots to fish that yielded limits Captain JT took them to Franklin Point. The swell was big and the fish were not biting. November 12th Fishing Report 2019

What does 50 and 50 make? Happy clients that’s what. Today we pulled one crab pot that had 32 nice Dungeness crab in it. YIKES! After getting limits of crab we fished the deep for limits of a variety of rock fish. Vermilion seem to be the prominent fish.

November 11th Fishing Report 2019

Crabbing and fishing continues to be hot. Today we pulled 2 crab pots to get limits of nice size Dungeness crab.  Captain Greg then headed north to the deep. The clients caught limits of a variety of rock fish including vermillion, yellow tail, green spots and widows.

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters had limits of rock fish and crab. What does 80 and 80 make? A lot of fun. 80 Dungeness and 80 rock fish. The crab are big and abundant. The rock fish are biting. November 9th Fishing Report 2019

The charter today was a crab and rock cod combo trip. The boat had crew limits of Dungeness crab – 10 per person. The crab are abundant and nice size. November 7th Fishing Report 2019

Today the first stop was to pull crab pots. We pulled 3 pots which yielded 42 Dungeness Crab  – 2 ove  limit and  they were tossed back. Yikes!  Captain Greg and Deckhand then took the clients to the deep near Davenport. They had limits of a variety of rock fish including yellow tail, vermillion and green spots. November 5th Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters is back in the water with the boat sporting a new engine and electronics. The Miss Beth has a new 485 horsepower 5.9 Cummins engine with all new state of the art Simrad electronics. She debuted today traveling at 23 knots to the crab pots that yielded crew limits of Dungeness crab  – 80 big ones! Captain JT took the clients north toward Davenport.  They  caught crew limits of quality rock fish including vermillion, yellow tail, white bellies canaries and widows. This afternoon Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters took the clients to fish locally. Holger caught a nice ling cod with away. Mike brought his six year old to fish. He had been asking his Dad to fish since he was five.  He arrived with his backpack and fishing pole still wrapped in the packaging. To my surprise, he caught doubles os rock fish with it. July 27th Fishing Report 2019

Captain JT and Deckhand JP took our repeat clients to fish at Davenport. The target fish was ling cod. They used squid for bait and while fishing for the ling they caught limits of a variety of quality rock. They landed one short of limits of nice ling cod – nine nice ones. These guys fish every month with us and have a tradition they play. They put $20 each on a corny hat and whoever catches the biggest fish get to wear the hat and wins the money. Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters headed north today with clients from Santa Rosa. The family and friends caught limits of a variety  rock fish. The ling cod are on the bite. They landed six nice ones. Todays charter was a lot of fun. We had kids on board that were so excited that when wanted arrived to help Deckhand JP with last minute work on the fishing rods. While he was surprised with their offer to help he was happy to show them what needed to be done. One thing you should know about Deckhand JP is he really good with kids. He says ‘ Kids listen to instruction’.   Today they fished near Natural Bridges catching limits of a variety of rock fish including canaries, yellow tail and vermilion. Today Tomoko chartered Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters to take her sons out on a fishing trip. Boy, did they have fun. July 7th Fishing Report 2019

Captain JT and Deckhand JP took the clients north of Santa Cruz to the big reef area. They had early limits of quality rock fish. They hooked six ling cods but had to throw back four as they were too small but had two nice keepers. They headed back downhill and found sea bass. That kept everyone hopping hooking four landing two.  The dolphins were out to put on a show for our clients in from New York. It was a great day to be fishing. Thanks Mark and family. June 30th Fishing Report 2019

Todays first charter headed up the coast toward Davenport where the rock cod bite was hot. Limits of a variety of rock fish including blues, green spots BIG vermillion and more. They then went hunting for ling cod.  They found them. They landed seven nice ones up to 16 pounds.

June 29th Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charter fished locally in 80 feet of water and after two drifts the clients had  quality rock cod including blues, olives and vermillion. Captain JT moved to the inside where they limited out. What a great day of fishing. Our repeat customers had early limits of a variety of quality rock fish while being entertained by whales putting on a show. Heading back toward Santa Cruz Deckhand JP noticed the water was suspicious of salmon. They dropped a line and before getting another one in the water – bang fish on! They caught 20 Kings, lost 2 to sea lions, threw back 2 shakers, others were lost at the boat and land 7 nice King Salmon. Thanks Rob and family for the charter. See you next year.

May 6th 2019 Fishing Report

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters paired up with Bayside Marine for a Blue Fin Tuna trip. Captain Greg from Go Fish Charters and Todd from Bayside Marine headed south toward the big canyon and started seeing jumpers about 9am which continued throughout the day. At 10am they hooked one and lost it. At 10:30 they landed a forty pounder. At 11am they hooked a big one and had it for five minutes before it came off. On the way home they saw foamers at 48/58. The water was tuna colored water. We are hoping they will be around for awhile. We will keep you posted.

May 5th 2019 Fishing Report

Word was out the Blue Fin Tuna were close by. After talking with the clients we went on the tuna hunt for two hours. They were not to be found today. Everyone decided we should go after the rock fish. They had limits of a variety quality rock cod. Good thing to have on Cinco De Mayo! Fish tacos. Yummy! Ceviche. Yummy!
