September 24th 2021 Fishing Report

JT and Greg took the boat to fish north of Santa Cruz. The clients caught limits of vermillion, canaries, and browns. They also caught two ling cod and a petrole sole.  Everyone had fun. Kumar and his brother are booking a combo trip for rock cod and Dungeness crab that we will be offering starting in November.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

September 23rd 2021 Fishing Report

We fished the Westside today. The clients caught limits of rock fish including vermillion, canaries and browns. The whales were out to put on a show for everyone.

 

 

 

 

 

September 22nd 2021 Fishing Report

JT took our repeat clients to fish north of Davenport. They caught limits of rock fish including some big vermillion. They landed two petrole sole and two ling cods. September 20th 2021 Fishing Report

September 19th 2021 Fishing Report

We tried to go to the islands but the wind did not cooperate. We headed back downhill and stopped at Five Mile. There the clients caught limits of quality rock fish. Reds, coppers, browns, blues, blacks and olives.

We tried to take the clients up the coast to fish north of Davenport but the weather didn’t cooperate.  So JT came back down the hill and fished at Five Mile. We fished locally today near Davenport. The rock cod bite was hot the first hour then slowed. The clients ended up one short of rock cod limits and two Ling Cod. The bite was on fire. The clients had full limits of vermillion per person along with just about every other quality rock fish around. The whales and dolphins were around. June 25th 2021 Fishing Report

We went back to fish the Davenport area and found rock cod mania. The clients caught browns, canaries, yellow tail, along with 15 vermillion. The bite was wide open with 2 fish a drop. We had crew limits in 45 minutes. It was an awesome day on the bay. Our friend and sometimes deckhand Shawn booked seats for his cousin Sonja and her husband here from Maryland. They will add this day along with their visit to Yosesmite as a great vacation trip.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

June 24th 2021 Fishing Report

We fished at Davenport today. Our repeat client Marty and team caught a variety of rock fish including blacks, browns, coppers and vermillion. They landed a nice ling cod. Captain JT made a move to fish for halibut in front of Santa Cruz. They caught one nice halibut right away. We fished the Davenport area for rock cod and ling cod. The clients caught huge reds and browns along with very nice canaries, blues, yellows and coppers. June 20th 2021 Fishing Report

We tried for halibut for first time this season. There was not much of a drift so we decided to troll. The clients ended up with twelve halibut from 23″ to 12 pounds.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

June 19th 2021 Fishing Report

We fished local reefs today for rock cod. The bite continues to be HOT!  We came in early with 30 nice fish.

June 18th 2021 Fishing Report

Local reefs are starting to produce quality school fish. Today we had quick limits of rock fish including yellow tail, blacks, blues, and vermillion. Sixty nice rock cod. Great for tacos, beer battered for fish and chips or just pan fried with lemon and butter. Oh… and ceviche!

June 17th 2021 Fishing Report

We went to the Soquel Hole today after King Salmon. We lost two nice ones and released four silver.  Some of the clients were sea sick and wanted to come in. We were back in our slip at 10:30am. Tomorrow is a rock cod ling cod trip.

June 16th 2021 Fishing Report

We fished today. Sorta kinda. We headed to the Soquel hole to fish for salmon. The clients didn’t feel well and wanted to come in. So did. We were tied to the dock by 8am.  We are ready for another charter tomorrow.

June 15th 2021 Fishing Report

We fished the Big Canyon and landed two nice King Salmon and lost one. The water was grumpy and kicked us off early. Hope to fish a bit long tomorrow. The commercial guys start again tomorrow and we hope they do well. It’s always nice to have some of our buddies out there to exchange information with. June 14th 2021 Fishing Report

Do you like anchovies on your pizza? Because we bet the salmon do. We trolled down by Mulligans and we put five giant King Salmon using anchovies. We lost another four kings on anchovies. Caught one on a hoochie. We released one silver. Leslie caught the biggest king today weighing in at 23 pounds.

We fished the Soquel Hole today. The client landed a nice 20 pound King Salmon.

We went back to the Soquel Hole today and fished the west side. The clients landed two nice salmon and released four silver salmon.

We fished the west side of the Soquel Hole today. Out repeat client and friend Scott caught two nice King Salmon.

June 10th 2021 Fishing Report

We fished from Moss Landing to Marina. There were small schools of salmon the entire distance.  We just needed to get lucky and drive over them. Overall it was a nice day out. The clients ended up with four nice Kng Salmon. They lost 0ne and released three silvers. The weather was nice until noon and we headed in. Let’s see what tomorrow has to offer.

JT and Greg took the boat to fish for rock cod above Davenport. The bite was slow but we stayed with it and made it happen. Few nice reds, mostly school fish and one nice ling cod. The wind came up and pushed us back in at 10:30. Thanks Boise Cascade company for the charter.

We fished the big canyon for salmon today. The jellyfish were thick. We made a m0ve and had a double right away. The clients landed three nice King Salmon and released two silver.

June 5th 2021 Fishing Report

We fished for salmon today. It started out slow. We got a call from someone who had found the fish. We made a move and started lightening them up. The clients ended up with seven King Salmon. We turned loose ten silvers. The fish seem to be dropping down in the water column. This means they will hang out for a while. Let’s do it again tomorrow. June 4th 2021 Fishing Report

There are still some big salmon around but we definitely had to work for them. The bait was scarce today but we found the bait ball and the fish were  on. The clients ended up with four beautiful Kings weighing between 12 an 18 pounds. We will see what happens tomorrow. We actually had a client book at trip for next week while still on the boat. June 3rd 2021 Fishing Report

We went back to the hole. The bait was thick and so were the fish. As soon as we got the lines in the water the big boys were home  3 fish in 15 minutes. Then there was a dry spell for 45 minutes and  then the bite was back on. We had five clients on the boat and they got their limits – 2 nice King Salmon each.  Then JT got to pull one on – a nice 20 pounder for him and Greg to split. We pulled the gear and headed back to the dock. Let’s hope these fish stay in the bay for a while.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

June 2nd 2021 Fishing Report

Our clients wanted to fish for rock cod today.  So JT and Greg took the boat up the coast to fish north of Santa Cruz.  There  they caught limits of good grade fish including big olives, vermillion, blues, blacks, browns, chinas and canaries. Great day on the bay. We fished for salmon today and had a lot of opportunities of at least 14 fish. The clients landed 5 King Salmon weighing between 14 and 27 pounds. The 27 pounder was the biggest one 9f the seasons so far. These fish are big and angry. The clients had their hands full today. May 28th 2021 Fishing Report

We fished the west side of the Soquel Hole today. We caught and landed one 17 pound King Salmon and threw back a silver. There were lots of whales and dolphins that entertained everyone. Thanks Matt and team for the charter.

We had a rock cod trip today. Three parties of two. One client was celebrating her 80th birthday another one his 38th birthday. The bite started out with quick bites of a variety of quality rock cod then slowed but everyone went home with a enough fish for birthday dinner and their freezer. Happy Birthday Skylar. Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters started fishing in the Big Canyon, made our though the flats to the Soquel Hole. We were scratching a salmon every 45 minutes. We fished at Mulligans again today. From the get go the salmon bite was hot. The clients had double and triple hook-ups all morning.  They had limits by 10am. We fished a little longer for the crew limits.  The weather was beautiful. The water was nice.  We came in before noon with 14 beautiful Salmon.  Tanja and Vincent were here on their honeymoon. We did a tag team trip shared with The Raybert. Five clients on each boat. There was BIG competition between the two boats. Who got the most, who got the biggest. We had a fun trip today. It was a party of 12 so we ran tandem with six on the Miss Beth and six on the Raybert. We left at the same time and headed to Davenport. We fished within a football field of each other. February 22 Fishing Report 2020

We are excited and looking forward to the 2020 Salmon and Rock Fish season. Last year salmon season was the best here in the past 20 some years. We hope the same for 2020 which opens in April. Captain Greg or Captain JT will be at the helm. An JP who you all know and love will be your deckhand. Our boat is a 30′ Island Hopper which accommodates six clients comfortably. The Miss Beth is sporting a new low emissions, clean burning Cummins engine with 425 horsepower and cruises comfortably at 25 knots. January 18th Fishing Report 2020

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters took the clients crabbin and dabbin today. First they pulled eight crab pots to get limits of big Dungeness crab – sixty of them. Then Captain JT took them to fish near Pajaro in 200 feet of water to some delicious Sand Dabs. Some of the sand dabs were big. The crew called them slap dabs. Call to book  your trip.

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters took clients to fish for sand dabs. They caught buckets of these yummy fish in 250′ of water south of Monterey. Captain Greg, cooked some  up for his family tonight. Fred Flintsone says ‘Yaba Daba Doo’ Today out clients said ‘Yaba Daba Daba Daba Daba Doo’ 200 times. 200 Sand Dabs. Then they said ‘Craba Craba Craba’ 40 times for crew limits of Dungeness crab. December 30th Fishing Report 2019

Captain Greg took the clients to fish the deep near Davenport today. They did two drifts to get limits of a variety of rock fish including big yellow tail and Boccaccio. They then headed to the crab grounds where they pulled five pots to get limits for everyone – sixty Dungeness crab. Our clients from Lodi said they fish a lot out of the Bay Area but no longer. Go Fish Santa Charters  is their fishing charter boat from now on. They also said the crew is the best and to make sure we keep them. No problem. We agree!!!!!!

December 27th Fishing Report 2019

Captain JT took the clients to fish the North Coast. They were just short of limits before the wind came up. They landed a variety of quality rock cod including some big vermillion, big yellow tail, speckled rock fish and some flag fish. Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters had limits again for everyone. Dungeness crab continue to be big and abundant. After pulling crab pots the charter boat took the clients to fish north of Santa Cruz where they caught limits of rock cod. The Dungeness crab continue to be abundant and big. The clients had early limits before heading out to fish for rock fish. They fished south of Davenport and had limits of a variety of rock fish.  Beth, Gerald, Clinton and John had a blast and said they will be back. We had s crab only trip today with our repeat client Ryan and his team from Beauregard Vineyards. Everyone went home with limits –  10 yummy Dungeness crab each.  Thanks for the bottle of Pinot Noir Ryan.

November 25th Fishing Report 2019

November 24th Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters crab pots continue to yield limits of Dungeness Crab. Today we pulled 7 pots for 60 beauties.  Captain Greg then took the clients to fish north of Santa Cruz where they caught limits of a variety of quality rock fish. Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters boat the  Miss Beth went to dry dock yesterday for a new propeller. Captain JT took her out for a test drive. The swell was big and the fish were not biting. The charter today was a crab and rock cod combo trip. The boat had crew limits of Dungeness crab – 10 per person. The crab are abundant and nice size. Today the first stop was to pull crab pots. We pulled 3 pots which yielded 42 Dungeness Crab  – 2 ove  limit and  they were tossed back. Yikes!  Captain Greg and Deckhand then took the clients to the deep near Davenport. They had limits of a variety of rock fish including yellow tail, vermillion and green spots. Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters is back in the water with the boat sporting a new engine and electronics. The Miss Beth has a new 485 horsepower 5.9 Cummins engine with all new state of the art Simrad electronics. She debuted today traveling at 23 knots to the crab pots that yielded crew limits of Dungeness crab  – 80 big ones! Todays charter was a lot of fun. We had kids on board that were so excited that when wanted arrived to help Deckhand JP with last minute work on the fishing rods. While he was surprised with their offer to help he was happy to show them what needed to be done. One thing you should know about Deckhand JP is he really good with kids. July 11th Fishing Report 2019

July 9th Fishing Report 2019

Today Tomoko chartered Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters to take her sons out on a fishing trip. Boy, did they have fun. Captain Greg took them north of Wilder Ranch where they caught limits of a variety of rock fish including blues, olives and vermillion. They hooked a few ling cods landing  nice one. July 7th Fishing Report 2019

Captain JT and Deckhand JP took the clients north of Santa Cruz to the big reef area. They had early limits of quality rock fish. They hooked six ling cods but had to throw back four as they were too small but had two nice keepers. They headed back downhill and found sea bass. That kept everyone hopping hooking four landing two.  The dolphins were out to put on a show for our clients in from New York. It was a great day to be fishing. Thanks Mark and family. July 6th Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters took the clients to Davenport today. The clients caught olives, widows, green spot and yellow tail rock fish. There was a great white shark sighting that caused some excitement.  Call to book your fun day of catching. 831.234.6155

June 30th Fishing Report 2019

Todays first charter headed up the coast toward Davenport where the rock cod bite was hot. Limits of a variety of rock fish including blues, green spots BIG vermillion and more. They then went hunting for ling cod.  They found them. They landed seven nice ones up to 16 pounds.

June 29th Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charter fished locally in 80 feet of water and after two drifts the clients had  quality rock cod including blues, olives and vermillion. Captain JT moved to the inside where they limited out. Today Captain Greg took the clients to a new area, a reef where we had not fished before. It was yielded quality rock fish including yellow tail, BIG vermillion and BIG widows.  The vermillion continues to be the prominent catch up 7 pounds. June 24th Fishing Report 2019

What a great day of fishing. Our repeat customers had early limits of a variety of quality rock fish while being entertained by whales putting on a show. Heading back toward Santa Cruz Deckhand JP noticed the water was suspicious of salmon. They dropped a line and before getting another one in the water – bang fish on! They caught 20 Kings, lost 2 to sea lions, threw back 2 shakers, others were lost at the boat and land 7 nice King Salmon. Thanks Rob and family for the charter. June 22nd Fishing Report 2019

Go Fish Santa Cruz Charters had young clients having a fun day summer day of fishing. Daniel, took his kids and their friends on a fishing trip where they went catching.
